IF YOU CAN'T GET WHAT YOU WANT...ENJOY WHAT YOU GET

i like early morning fog and sunny days...

i got all day gray and overcast...

i like driftwood and rocks...

i got miles of nothing but sand and wind...

It's been a couple of years since I've been to the coast and years since I've done any camping.  Back then we just packed up and took off and stayed where we could find a place.  I found out it doesn't work that way anymore so my choices were limited when I made a reservation at the last minute...

but here's the thing about choices...i can be disappointed and never have any fun or i can find something to enjoy no matter where i go if i keep my eyes and my mind open.

...my love for the ocean never changes...

...even old pilings standing sentinel

can tell a story when the light is just right...

...there was a lot of coming and going on the beach but it was so long and flat it didn't matter if i went left or right it all looked the same...except for the kites...

...it was the dogs first road trip but they adjusted quickly and well and nearly swooned from sensory overload...

even when we wouldn't let them chase the local wildlife on the sand...

or in the air...

...and the sun did come out one morning...long enough for the pterodactyls to fly...

and the flowers to reach for the sky...

but it got cold again and after three nights

AT THE END OF THE DAY...

the dogs said it was time to head for home.

A FARM...A BARN...AN ART SHOW

Art In The Barn started in 2003.  This year, 2013, was the last.  I didn't participate until 2006,  my very first art show, but I have been there every year since.

Through clear blue skies and heat; through torrential wind and rain; with fog misting the fields in wispy tendrils;  with white marshmallow clouds behind mountains that take your breath away;  in a working barn cleaned out to make room for 'Art In The Barn';  outside with white canopies dotting the landscape for 'Art At The Barn' after the barn came down from the heavy snow in an unusually harsh winter...we've had it all over the years...and now it's over.

I know I'm not alone in saying thank you to the many people who made it happen each year and especially to the Yantis family for their hospitality, graciousness, and all their hard work getting their farm ready and  letting us use it as an art gallery.  It was always an event to be looked forward to.  Our appreciation can't be expressed in words.  We are sorry it has to end (all good things have to, though, don't they)... yet ... AT THE END OF THE DAY... we understand the reasons...and the good memories will linger.
